Frequently Asked Questions

How should I handle the old personal data in my computer

Delete all personal data and reformat the hard drive. For a small fee one of our technicians can also perform this function for you (the process we use is designed to insure that data would never be recovered – we guarantee it).

I have a large load will ESS pickup ?

If you have more than 25 pieces, we will make arrangements to pickup the items from you – there is a small fee to pay for transportation and labor for this service.

Will it cost me to recycle my equipment ?

Our fee structure is based on what percentage of the equipment is recycled and resold. Older electronics that do not meet current functionality needs must be recycled, and as such, will incur a fee. However, equipment that is refurbished and resold will offset these recycling fees and are passed onto the customer in the form of savings!

How is the equipment tracked once it arrives at ESS ?

We use a custom database program that notes each equipment by the serial number (units without serial numbers are assigned an id number). The equipment is then separated to identify specific models that will be refurbished and reused. The remaining items are then de-manufactured to separate metals, glass, boards, plastics, etc.,

Tell me more about the equipment that’s recycled and those that are sold.

The computer equipment will be sorted for reuse or recycling and equipment that meets the required functionality standards will be refurbished and resold. Part of the equipment will be donated to our pilot programs with disadvantaged non-profit agencies. The proceeds from equipment sold will help with education, awareness, re-investment and provide job-related services for people with barriers to employment. Computers that cannot be refurbished will be responsibly recycled to insure 99.9% of the materials are reused in the future.
